Blossom Flower Shops has informed all of our associates, that we are making a New Year’s Resolution to an Eco Friendly GREENOLUTION!.

Our own consumption of resources will be more efficiently recycled.

We are carefully selecting environmentally friendly products for the office, work area, and consumer. All of our fresh produce will be grown sustainably and/or

organically to preserve our most valuable resources: farms.

In the future we hope to create a healthier community and environment and

hopefully set an example to others in our industry.

What does this all mean?According to the OTA (Organic Trade Association) the term “organic” in terms of agriculture practices means to “maintain and replenish soil fertility without the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and fertilizers.” This term is not just limited to plants,

crops or flowers; organic livestock is another controversial product that consumers are

now in high demand. The practice of Sustainability is supported by many farms in foreign

countries for three main reasons.

1) Soil quality & sustainability in which will help

protect their farms and surrounding ecosystems

(which must be accomplished before becoming certified organic).
2) Fair labor practice to help ensure the health,

safety and fairness of all employed at these farms.
3) Quality and beauty of the product outcome.

"On Saturday evening we called your store because we needed a flower
arrangement for Sunday. We knew we could pick it up at the Yonkers office,
since the White Plains store is closed on Sunday.
I am so sorry I cannot remember who I spoke with, but I described what I
wanted and what I didn't want. The staff person was the model customer
service person. She walked me through several pieces online, and she
obviously took my request seriously. I wanted an altar piece, but not
something that looked like a funeral piece even though it was in memory of
someone very dear to us. We wanted something colorful, alive, vibrant and
that would make a statement when people saw it. Needless to say when my
husband picked up the piece it was 'outstanding - a work of art, a vibrant

GIRL SCOUTS DONATION

Blossom Flower Shops donated $1500.00 of flowers to the Girls Scouts of Westchester County. This year Blossom Flower Shops made over 300 corsages and 300 boutonnieres for the Girl Scouts annual Father Daughter Dance. It was a successful event and they were extremely grateful for the flowers.

Owner, Kevin Kegan and manager, Kathie Murphy presented at Hofstra University on March 12, 2008. They spoke to a business class about their Family Business. The professor tries to make the classroom as close to the real world of business as possible, so he invited some real world business people to speak. The class is about critical issues involved in transition planning from one owner to another in family businesses. Kevin and Kathie found it extremely enlightening to meet and share some of Blossom Flower Shops experiences with such wonderful inquiring minds. The students wrote some responses that are posted below.

Recently it was announced that the release of the holiday feature film "Thomas Kinkade's Home for Christmas." would be this coming holiday season. We have just been informed that due to unexpected delays in the production of this film Lions Gate Films has rescheduled the release of this movie for Christmas 2008. Below is a copy of the email that we were sent by the Thomas Kinkade Company, informing us of this decision.

September 27, 2008

Dear _____:

We have just been notified by Lionsgate Studios that the schedule for completing Thomas Kinkade's Home for Christmas has been experiencing unexpected delays over the last several weeks due to a number of factors including music rights clearances and final editing. These delays, in turn, had the effect of seriously impacting the time available for the studio to develop and deploy quality promotion and marketing to support the film and gain strong word of mouth and awareness. Consequently, after much discussion and debate internally, Lionsgate has decided that in order to ensure maximum success for the movie, the best decision is to re-schedule its release date.

Re-scheduling a movie is commonplace in Hollywood, and if this were a typical movie the result would likely be a move of two to three months. However, because it is very much a Christmas Movie Thomas Kinkade's Home for Christmas will be scheduled for the 2008 holiday season.

Although we are disappointed that we will not be able to share what is a truly wonderful film this Christmas, we believe, given the facts of the situation, that the decision is indeed the best one for the ultimate success of both this movie and future Thomas Kinkade Media projects.

Though the decision was beyond our control, we are acutely aware that this will create confusion and difficulty for you based on the promotional efforts you have already so wonderfully executed. We will be calling you shortly to discuss how we might be able to help you address the issues that this rescheduling creates.

We appreciate your understanding and support and look forward to next year when this film can shine its light most brightly.
